Exploring remote Fatu Hiva on foot is not for the faint-of-heart but it does reward the crew of Cheeky Monkey with some of the most spectacular views we’ve ever seen. We attend a local village competition in Hanavave, where Polynesians of all ages show off their spectacular singing and dancing talents, then we shake off our sea legs by hiking all over the island of Fatu Hiva before sailing off through a rambunctious pod of jumping dolphins to reach Hiva Oa to check in with customs.
We are sad to say good-bye to the Pacific crossing crew of Kristi, Liam and Jemma, but we wish them the best on their future adventures as they fly back to Indiana (Kristi) and look for other sailing opportunities to take them on to New Zealand (Liam and Jemma).
After the crew depart in Hiva Oa, Cheeky Monkey has returned to a basic crew of two — Ryan and Tasha — who continue their adventures through the South Pacific islands on their own – so don’t worry! After this short announcement to follow, we will be returning to Cheeky Monkey to continue our journey around the world 🙂
BONUS: At the end of the video, Ryan and Tasha announce they will be giving Cheeky Monkey a sailing rest for cyclone season and they are coming to a city near you in the USA! This is just a short ski-break before heading back to the South Pacific to go sailing again.
